February 27, 2010----Day 10---Winter Wonderland

I haven't posted in the last two days, and I apologize.  Life got crazy for a little bit, but I am back.  The pictures I chose today are were actually taken on day 8 of my project- 2/25/2010.

Living in Syracuse, NY we are for the most part used to a lot of snow.  This winter though, has not been that bad, so when a nasty storm came to give us all a reminder of what we have been missing on Thursday everybody slightly panicked.

Mary, my wonderful boss was concerned about the roads, and decided to shut the office down at 3:00 instead of our normal 4:30.( I love her for this, because the roads did get horrendous).  I got home around 3:30 or so, and decided to take advantage of getting home so early.

There is a dog park in Liverpool, our poopies love it, but we are unable to bring them there very often.  Luscius is not neutered and will get into a territory battle with any other un-neutered male that might be there.  I figured the park would be empty because it was a Thursday, people are at work and the weather was awful.

I advised my lovely daughters Amanda and Samantha that they would be accompanying me on this adventure; and they rather reluctantly got themselves ready.  Now Pooch and Cosmo knew something was up and were very riled, as soon as I turned into the entrance Lusicus started his "talking" (I cannot begin to describe it, except that his dialect contains yelps, frustration yawns and lip blowing/puffing)

Luckily I was correct and the dog park was empty.  We played with the poopies for about an hour and a half.  In the process, we lost both of Luscius' favorite balls, Sam built a miniature snowman named Hewitt, and Momo injured her leg. ( we didn't realize this until later in the evening- aspirin works well).

We really enjoyed ourselves and so did the doggies.  I took a lot pictures, and it was very challenging.  My glasses had turned into sunglasses (transitions), it was snowing very hard (snow flakes on my glasses, viewfinder and lens), plus I would fog up my viewfinder whenever I shot for an extended amount of time.  I chose a few pictures that were my favorite- one each of my ladies and a couple of my other babies.

Enjoy!

February 24, 2010----Day 7---Baby Kitties Are Here!!!!!!!

Good evening everybody...Today was a very exciting day for the Flora household...(My Cousin aka Soul Sista Jenni & Her Family).  Kitty- the cat they rescued this summer gave birth to her long awaited and overdue babies.

Both Jenni & I rescued kitties this summer after losing between us three very loved and still horribly missed Kitties- Lucy, Cassie & Mogwai (Moggy).  Nothing takes away the pain from losing a loved one but certain things can be done to help you heal.  Our rescues, both unplanned have been named very unique and individual names- Kitty (jenni) & Kitt~Unn (me).

The saga of the new babies started one day about 8 weeks or so ago...Kitty went outside and didn't come home, Jenni got very very worried and even posted an ad on Channel 9's Petfinders Website.  Thankfully Kitty came home the next day to everyone's relief.  Then the Floras noticed that Kitty seemed to be putting on some weight.  Uh Oh!

Once the shock and oh crap what are we going to do's were over, we all started betting on how many she was going to have and when.  This morning at 3:00 am, Kitty's water broke on Jenni & Chris' Bed.

After many long hours in labor she gave birth to 5 beautiful babies.  Two dark orange tiger and three fawn colored babies.  One of each color has a bob tail (Mama is a bob tail).

Luba is taking one, and a dude Chris works with is taking another...I've named one, he is a orange tiger who looks a lot like our Benjamin.  His name is Burnley.  So if Todd falls in love we will have a Ben and a Burnley (Breaking Benjamin anyone?)

Here are some pics of Mama and babies...Enjoy!

February 23, 2010----Day 6-----Snacktime!

Finding a subject for today wasn't that difficult.  Anybody that knows me is aware of the fact that I am dieting.  Dieting = Hunger, Lots and lots of hunger.  The last week or so I have been ravenous, so today I took pictures of snacks.

I tried to use healthy snacks

1) Rold Gold Pretzels- Very Yummy
2) Food Should Taste Good-Potato & Chive- Also Very Yummy!
3) Kashi's Honey Almond Flax Bars- NOT YUMMY AT ALL!!!!!! Yuck, very very foul, Flax (say it like AFLAC, I do) is gross, and dry, and you feel as if your mouth will never be able to do away with the foul substance residing inside it. I am very sorry that I bought these and expected my children to injest them.  I am a very bad Mom and will be going to H E double hockey sticks for this I'm sure.  But, In order to end this on a positive note, Flax does make for a nice picture.

Enjoy!

February 22, 2010-Day 5-The Three Types of Feet in my Home

I've come to the conclusion that for some days, one picture is not enough.  Today is one of those days.  I'm realizing that I have a pretty cruddy imagination when it comes to ideas for interesting pictures.  This is difficult-everyday life is not something that I feel is exciting.

I was sitting on my living room floor looking around, and my eyes traveled to my coffee table(or what remains of it)...The idea hit me-The Cost of a Dog-  I grabbed the remote Cosmo had chewed, placed it on the coffee table at an angle with the chewed corner, grabbed a newly chewed pencil and then grabbed my pink hooker heels that are not fixable and tried to find a shot-No success, the pictures were OK, but did not grab my attention, and I love my animals.  For someone who does not find animals a necessary part of life, they would find it downright boring.  So back to the drawing board.

So I'm sitting on my hairy floor looking at my poopies thinking and it hit me-Feet- I know!  I hate feet, I find them gross- human feet that is, but I really like the four legged kind, they are cute....So for today's subject-Three Types of Feet in my Home....Enjoy!

February 21 2010- Day 4

So as I was starting dinner a little bit ago, I realized that in my insane day, I had not taken a picture and needed to figure out what in my home might be interesting. Now today has been a very exhausting day- Get up, Bring Amanda to the doctors-Bronchitis, go to Wegmans to get prescriptions filled, and get groceries.  Drive home, drop off groceries, leave, drive to Barb's weigh in(gain almost three pounds!)-visit for a little bit, leave, drive to Kmart-look for carpet for Amanda's room-No Luck!-purchase the new blanket Amanda wanted as part of her birthday present(along with other things)- drive to Big-Lots searching for an area rug the child likes-No luck!- leave, drive to Lowe's- search for carpet-No Luck!- all the while I am feeling cruddy-Sinuses....Finally give up on the rug search and drive home.  Get home, realize house is a wreck (I've been gone all day), pick it up somewhat, have a conversation with my husband for the first time today- start dinner then look at the clock...Now back to the point-Melanie warned me that it was going to be difficult to find something to shoot everyday, and I didn't expect it to be so soon after starting this project.  With my head in a fog, I pick up my camera and start wandering around my house.  I grabbed a chair and started shooting the pile of dog toys in the top section of the kitty condo-Doesn't do anything for me-Looked around the dining room and I stop on a very large Christmas ornament my Mother gave us a few years ago.  It is a very cool ornament and because it matches my dining room, I use it year round.  I decided to take a couple close ups on a section of it and liked how they turned out.  So that is my selection for today.  Hopefully it is interesting- if not, I shall try again tomorrow- Enjoy!

February 20 2010- Day Three

I did not get a chance to take a picture yesterday...Day two of my project and I'm already having commitment issues!  Today is day three and I went to my friend Barb's house for a Lia Sophia party.  For those not familiar with Lia Sophia, it is a jewelry party.  I went fully planning on taking pictures of the jewelry on display there, choosing a shot from those and using it for my day three picture.I did take a few shots of jewelry, but I instead found a much better subject.  Young children....The house was overrun with them.  The majority of my friends are having kids and they range in age from a few months to six or seven years of age.  The picture I chose is one of my friend Luba's daughter Olivia.  She was chewing what I believe to be carrot, looked at Luba and said "Mommy, Look!"  I think it captures perfectly the spirit of a child and what they think is interesting.  Olivia was gently advised to put her tongue back in her mouth, but not before I cracked up.  Enjoy!

Day 1- February 18 2010- A Day at Work

Today is day one of my project...I took around 26 shots today while at work.  I know I am only supposed to post one each day, but I liked these three.
